Mobile phone services were snapped across Jammu and Kashmir since August 5. Telephone line services, including mobile phones and landlines, were suspended in the early hours of August 5.
The districts that got back mobile services were Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri, and Poonch. But services are still restricted in Kashmir. The mobile phone services were restricted across Jammu and Kashmir after the Article 370 was scrapped.
On August 17, mobile internet services were restored in five districts of Jammu region – Jammu, Reasi, Samba, Kathu, and Udhampur. Last week landline phone services were also restored at a few places in Kashmir – Budgam, Sonamarg and Manigam, Gurez, Tangmarg, Uri Keran, Karnah, and Tangdhar. But, consumers complained about irregular connections.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik announced that mobile phone lines will be reopened in all 10 districts of Jammu and would also be made functional in the entire revenue district of Kupwara and Handwara Police districts in the Kashmir Valley.
Telephones and Internet connections are of very little use to us. They were being used more by Pakistani forces and terrorists, and that was why we put restrictions on them.
said Governor Satya Pal Malik defending the restrictions.
